What is going on
Hunterdon County?
Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Company (Transco) is proposing to construct a 6.8 mile pipeline composed of a 42” diameter pipe through the southern Highlands in Clinton, Franklin, and Union. This proposal is part of the Northeast Supply Link Project which will upgrade over 25 miles of existing pipeline. This proposed pipeline will scar some of the most sensitive and scenic land in the New Jersey Highlands.  Whether it is on your property or in your neighborhood, if you reside or do business in Clinton Township, you will be AFFECTED! It threatens our invaluable water supply, critical wildlife habitat, our communities and our public health and safety, as well as, property values!
Residents in Clinton Township formed a group called “Fight the Pipe”, which is focusing on community involvement. To that end “Fight the Pipe” has attended Township Council and Environmental Commission meetings, contacted elected officials and is launching a campaign to spread awareness to their neighbors in Clinton Township. Visit our Facebook Page called “Fight the Pipe”

We have already gained the support of the Clinton Township Town Council. They have recently passed a Resolution opposing the Transco Project and calling for “a moratorium on any and all planning, proposal, installation, or expansion of the Transco gas pipeline through Clinton Township”. The resolution also calls on FERC to prepare an EIS for the project and asks for information and a meeting with the company. In addition, Clinton Township also passed a resolution calling for a state-wide ban on fracking and for strong regulations on fracking to be adopted. Eleven other communities in New Jersey have passed a similar resolution.
